Job Overview
Our client, a worldwide nonprofit organization, is looking for an Editorial Assistant to temporarily join their Washington, D.C.-based team. The role involves assisting with manuscript submission and peer review processes for the journals PAIN and PAIN Reports, ensuring submissions meet guidelines, and supporting editorial workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage manuscript submissions and peer review for PAIN and PAIN Reports.
- Evaluate submitted manuscripts to verify completeness and adherence to journal standards.
- Allocate manuscripts to appropriate editors and facilitate peer review operations.
- Ensure accuracy, quality standards, and timely progression of editorial projects.
- Provide both editorial and administrative assistance to the publication team.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a bachelor's degree in fields such as science, healthcare, communications, journalism, English, or publishing.
- Have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication capabilities.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and efficient time management.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
- Capable of working independently in a remote work setting.
- Experience with academic publishing, peer review processes, Editorial Manager software, or copyediting is preferred.
Position Details
- Start immediately.
- Temporary assignment lasting six weeks with possibility of extension.
- Compensation ranges from $23 to $25 per hour.
- Working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
