Job Overview

Sunset Magazine is recruiting an innovative Editor specialized in content innovation to spearhead the integration of AI in producing advanced editorial projects that boost audience engagement and revenue. This position is key in transforming both print and digital content creation, aligned with the brand's quality and voice.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver superior AI-driven editorial products including Special Interest Publications and digital storytelling initiatives such as Epic Western Gardens and Best Homes in the West.
• Create a large volume of SEO-optimized articles leveraging archival resources, current trends, and strategic keyword analysis to enhance traffic growth.
• Collaborate closely with editorial and design divisions to maintain Sunset's brand integrity in AI-generated content.
• Utilize the extensive 125-year Sunset archive for developing new material, renewing legacy content, and crafting tailored editorial projects.
• Lead the development of an AI-enhanced Western Garden Book or application providing interactive gardening guidance.
• Employ AI technologies to revamp legacy content and shape bespoke, automated editorial products.
• Investigate and adopt cutting-edge AI tools and workflows to improve productivity and content quality.
• Implement methods to increase website traffic using AI-driven content strategies focused on high-impact keywords and audience interests.
• Create and execute monetization strategies converting page views into revenue through programmatic advertising, direct sales, and ecommerce channels.
• Manage the cross-platform marketing of Special Interest Publications via pre-order campaigns and diverse retail outlets like Shopify and Amazon.
• Stay updated on best practices in AI-driven content creation, SEO, and audience expansion.
• Identify and deploy AI-powered content automation platforms such as ChatGPT, Jasper, or Adobe Sensei, and develop proprietary tools for workflow optimization.
• Partner with marketing teams to boost editorial product visibility across social channels and email marketing.
• Use analytics to measure content performance and refine strategies accordingly.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in AI-based content production and digital publishing environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SEO techniques and related analytical software including Google Analytics and SEMrush.
• Expertise with AI content platforms like OpenAI, Jasper, or Copy.ai.
• Experience managing editorial projects involving long-form content and special publications.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities with consistent delivery on deadlines and KPIs.
• Data-driven approach to content and editorial decision-making.
• Familiarity with ecommerce platforms such as Shopify and external retail channels like Amazon and Ingram Spark.

Preferred Competencies

• Excellent storytelling and packaging abilities.
• Knowledge of programmatic advertising and audience revenue models.
• Skills in creative software including Adobe Creative Suite and Canva for product development collaboration.
• Experience with archival research aiming to rejuvenate historic content.
• Affinity for themes around Western lifestyle, home design, gardening, cultural history, and travel aligning with Sunset’s editorial focus.

Additional Information

This role is based in Los Angeles, CA with an office attendance requirement of one to two days per week. The annual salary proposed ranges from 80000 to 110000 USD.
