Driving Instructor - Driver Remedial Trainer

About the Role

As a Driver Remedial Trainer based in Dubai, UAE, you will play a critical role in enhancing driver performance through focused coaching, counseling, training sessions, and practical evaluations. Your mission is to diagnose underlying causes of subpar performance, bolster drivers' confidence, competence, and professionalism, and prepare them to safely resume operational duties. Success is gauged by sustained improvement in driver earnings, customer service quality, driving proficiency, safety adherence, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify performance issues by engaging with drivers and Operations to uncover root causes.
• Evaluate driver skills, conduct behavioral assessments, and determine their preparedness for remedial training.
• Provide individualized coaching and counseling to address performance shortcomings and boost confidence.
• Design and deliver remedial training covering safe and defensive driving, traffic laws, customer service, and professional conduct.
• Coach drivers on improved operational methods to enhance earnings and customer satisfaction.
• Conduct practical driving tests to ensure competency and safe driving practices before drivers return to work.
• Collaborate with Operations to track progress, provide refresher coaching as needed, and update on driver outcomes.
• Maintain thorough records of assessments, training activities, and driver progress.
• Analyze driver performance data to recommend targeted interventions, including re-training or offboarding where necessary.
• Ensure all training aligns with company policies, safety standards, and operational guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
• Train the Trainer certification is advantageous.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in driver training, operational coaching, or performance enhancement roles.
• Experience in taxi, mobility, transport, logistics, or automotive sectors is beneficial.
• Competency in conducting driver assessments, practical evaluations, and behavioral coaching is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills

• Well-versed in road safety practices, defensive driving techniques, and relevant traffic regulations.
• Understanding of taxi operations, driver productivity, and earnings drivers’ dynamics.
• Strong grasp of customer service principles and passenger experience enhancement.
• Excellent coaching, counseling, mentoring, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Capability to positively influence driver conduct and reinforce confidence.
• Sharp observation, assessment, decision-making, and report writing skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Patient, empathetic, professional, and solutions-focused demeanor.
• Language skills in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Arabic are preferred.

Performance Metrics

• Percentage of drivers successfully rehabilitated back to operations.
• Enhancement in driving safety, behavior, and income after training.
• Decrease in repeat accidents, violations, and remedial interventions.
• Accuracy and timeliness in completion of reports and training documentation.
• Effectiveness of coaching measured by operational outcomes.
• Suitable recommendations on driver status: return to work, further training, or offboarding.
