Overview
Join our Invercargill team as a Drainlayer and provide vital drainage maintenance and infrastructure services that support the smooth functioning of the local community.
Role Description
We are seeking a skilled and driven Drainlayer to contribute to our long-term drainage maintenance contract with Invercargill City Council. This practical hands-on role involves safely and efficiently performing drainage maintenance and project tasks while upholding high-quality standards.
Key responsibilities include managing daily site operations, guiding and supporting crew members, ensuring adherence to project requirements and performance goals, organizing resources, assigning tasks, operating machinery, and assisting with fieldwork. Collaborating closely with contract engineers, project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients, you will foster strong working relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
Promoting a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility is essential. You will actively encourage safe work practices in line with our Zero Harm commitment and guarantee all activities are completed professionally and responsibly.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Certified Drainlayer qualification
- Demonstrate experience in drain laying and drainage maintenance operations
- Proven leadership abilities supervising drainage projects or small field teams
- Hold a full Class 1 driver licence with manual driving capability
- Have in-depth knowledge of safe work protocols and a dedication to Zero Harm standards
- Experience operating plant and equipment in civil or drainage contexts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills fostering positive relationships
- Customer-oriented mindset with keen commercial awareness on site
- Ability to mentor, coach, and develop crew members effectively
- Awareness of environmental protection and sustainable work methodologies
Advantages include possession of a Class 2 driver licence with W, T, and R endorsements and Water Reticulation Level 3 or above certification.
