About the Role
An established advisory firm specializing in energy markets is seeking an experienced Director Energy (Commercial) to spearhead strategic and commercial advisory projects within Australia's energy sector. This role involves partnering with renewable energy developers, investors, corporations, and other market players to provide expert advice on major renewable energy initiatives, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and electricity market opportunities. The successful candidate will help guide investment decisions, optimize commercial structures, and facilitate transaction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead advisory projects focused on the commercial, strategic, and market aspects of the Australian power sector.
- Provide guidance on renewable energy and BESS development, including revenue optimization and strategies for market participation.
- Structure and assist in the execution of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), offtake agreements, and other commercial contracts.
- Deliver market, policy, and investment insights to developers, investors, and large energy consumers.
- Drive business development efforts, generate new opportunities, and nurture long-term client relationships.
- Oversee project teams and contribute to expanding the advisory practice.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Australia’s energy market, specifically with the National Electricity Market (NEM).
- Strong expertise in energy advisory, consulting, project development, infrastructure, investment, or energy markets.
- Hands-on experience with BESS, PPAs, commercial structuring, transaction advisory, and capital/investment processes.
- Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and leadership within advisory practices.
- Exceptional commercial acumen, analytical abilities, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Academic degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field.
