Data Scientist (Frontier AI) - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Data Scientist to join our Frontier AI team remotely. This position involves leading comprehensive research and evaluation projects, ranging from problem definition to data design and validation to improve model performance. You will design innovative machine learning data systems and analysis methods to enhance AI models.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end research and evaluation efforts including framing challenges, designing data, and validating signals.
• Create machine learning-focused data systems such as task definitions, annotation schemas, rubrics, incentives, and pipelines optimized for improving downstream models.
• Examine failures in models and systems to identify root causes, edge cases, and improvement opportunities.
• Convert ambiguous real-world behaviors into organized evaluation frameworks and new data types.
• Continuously refine evaluations, datasets, and feedback mechanisms to boost system effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate research advancements clearly using evidence-backed narratives.

Requirements

• Strong discernment regarding research signal quality and the readiness for external release.
• Experience in designing machine learning datasets, evaluation frameworks, and QA procedures.
• Capability to interpret complex real-world system behaviors into structured research and evaluation plans.
• Comfortable working in uncertain environments with a proactive attitude and decisive decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain trade-offs and limitations to various stakeholders.

Compensation

This full-time remote role offers an annual salary range between $600,000 and $2,000,000.
