Role Overview
The Data Assistant position is a part-time and fully remote role focused on supporting the data-related activities concerning Indigenous participation in energy and resource initiatives. Primary responsibilities involve cleaning, validating, and organizing datasets, updating database entries, conducting fundamental data analytics, and generating reports. The role includes preparing tables, charts, and summaries to support both internal stakeholders and external publications, ensuring data accuracy and uniformity across all platforms. Collaboration with colleagues for handling data requests, documenting workflows, and contributing to best practices in data management are additional responsibilities. The ideal candidate is meticulous, thrives working autonomously, and has a strong interest in data-centric activities that advance meaningful partnerships.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong analytical abilities to interpret datasets, recognize trends, and assist in decision-making.
- Experience managing, cleansing, and validating data collections.
- Understanding of database management and fundamental data structures to maintain records effectively.
- Familiarity with basic data analytics, including use of spreadsheet software or analytic tools for summaries and visual reports.
- Clear and effective written and oral communication skills necessary for documenting data processes and collaborating within a team.
- Proficiency with standard productivity and data tools such as Excel or Google Sheets; knowledge of SQL or business intelligence software is advantageous.
- Capability to work productively in a remote setting with strong independent time management and deadline adherence.
- An interest in or experience related to Indigenous affairs, the energy and resource sectors, or initiatives focused on social impact is preferred.
- Educational background or training in data science, statistics, economics, social sciences, or similar disciplines is beneficial.
