Custodial Lead

The Custodial Lead is responsible for keeping assigned spaces clean and sanitary while also offering limited direction to custodial team members.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out janitorial tasks across the assigned area.
• Complete all duties included in the daily work schedule.
• Guide custodial staff and provide hands-on support as directed by the Custodial Supervisor.
• Help the Custodial Supervisor with staff scheduling and training when needed.
• Use motorized cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain records for equipment inventory, upkeep, and repairs.
• Arrange cleaning, maintenance, and repair activities as required.
• Keep the assigned area consistently maintained and orderly.
• Monitor stock levels and manage supply inventory.
• Support the Custodial Supervisor with purchasing cleaning materials and equipment.
• Conduct inspections related to quality, service, and safety.
• Escalate incidents and hazardous situations to the supervisor.
• Report employee-related and customer-related concerns to the supervisor.
• Check that employees are using personal protective equipment and supplies properly.
• Address unsafe behavior and notify the supervisor immediately.
• Recommend corrective actions for areas needing improvement.

Qualifications and requirements

Applicants should be able to perform all essential duties reliably and safely. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience. Candidates must also have CPR/AED/First Aid certification and complete all safety and task-training certifications. A valid driver’s license may be required, and forklift certification may also be needed. Strong reading comprehension, clear verbal and written communication, knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, familiarity with equipment care, and safe use of cleaning chemicals are expected.

Work schedule and compensation

This is a Monday through Friday position, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Pay ranges from $15 to $16 per hour.
