Job Overview
StarHub's IS Division is seeking a DevOps and Application Engineer responsible for managing the build and release pipelines as well as delivering production-grade software supporting our customer platforms. This multifaceted role blends infrastructure automation, Kubernetes administration, Jenkins pipeline engineering, AWS resource provisioning, and software development.
Core Responsibilities
- Define and uphold DevOps standards and best practices emphasizing trunk-based development workflows such as short-lived feature branches, automated testing gates, and code quality assurance.
- Create, evolve, and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines using Pipeline-as-Code approaches including shared libraries and both scripted and declarative pipelines.
- Develop and manage build automation scripts and infrastructure tools using Shell, Python, and Groovy to streamline software delivery processes.
- Administer multi-cluster Kubernetes platforms including Amazon EKS and OpenShift Container Platform, covering Helm chart creation, RBAC setup, network policy enforcement, and autoscaling configuration.
- Optimize PostgreSQL databases for performance, ensure high availability, and implement disaster recovery strategies including logical replication and pgBackRest.
- Implement GitOps deployment models with tools such as Argo CD or Flux to ensure reproducible and auditable releases.
- Provision and manage AWS infrastructure components such as EKS, RDS with PostgreSQL, EC2 instances, S3 storage, and IAM permissions.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Contribute to application codebases in Python, Go, or TypeScript, actively engaging in design discussions and performance tuning.
- Implement observability frameworks leveraging platforms like Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch, and manage incident response workflows using PagerDuty or VictorOps.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation and facilitate knowledge sharing within internal teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years’ combined experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or software development roles.
- In-depth expertise with container orchestration technologies, Kubernetes internals, and Helm charts.
- Practical knowledge of Jenkins and industry best practices for continuous integration and delivery.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language among Python, Go, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong SQL capabilities paired with hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience.
- Sound understanding of AWS core services, security (IAM), and cost management strategies.
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with Linux system internals, networking basics, and scripting in shell environments.
- An agile approach to software development with experience collaborating in Scrum teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect at Associate or Professional level.
