Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Lead line two compliance audits and monitor adherence across regulated operations.
• Evaluate control effectiveness, identify risks and gaps before escalation.
• Deliver insightful, actionable reports and recommendations to senior leadership and governance committees.
• Advise on compliance aspects of projects, products, and operational changes.
• Establish and maintain trustful relationships with internal teams and regulatory bodies.
• Serve as the privacy and data protection officer, managing related responsibilities.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of five years' experience in compliance, audit, or risk within the financial services sector.
• Deep knowledge of New Zealand's regulatory landscape, particularly related to financial advice.
• Strong attention to detail to identify risks, patterns, and systemic issues effectively.
• Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation to senior stakeholders.
• Confidence to influence and challenge all business levels constructively.

Preferred Backgrounds

• Experience in insurance or insurance broking environments.
• Exposure to broader financial services sectors such as banking, wealth management, or advisory roles.
• Background in Big Four firms or consultancies focusing on audit, risk, or compliance.
