Job Overview
The Commodity Manager for Indirect & Logistics is accountable for driving the development and execution of category strategies and strategic sourcing plans for indirect and logistics spend in the region, managing budgets between $20 million to $40 million. Operating mainly out of the Americas with a regional focus, this role collaborates across global procurement teams to harmonize practices and optimize global sourcing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support interdisciplinary category teams to establish and uphold strategies covering indirect categories including ocean, air, and parcel transportation.
- Develop long-term category planning and implement ongoing enhancements for spend categories under management.
- Create and execute sourcing, negotiation, and contracting tactics aligned with global indirect procurement category goals.
- Utilize historical spend analytics, market intelligence, and cost modeling to identify valuable opportunities enhancing operational efficiency, innovation, and risk management.
- Implement total landed cost or total cost of ownership models in accordance with stakeholder alignment.
- Achieve measurable improvements in cost, cash flow, quality, and risk in indirect spend categories.
- Work collaboratively in a matrix environment supporting global indirect procurement colleagues.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to facilitate strategic and financial value delivery.
- Manage procurement processes and contracts specifically for indirect commodities.
- Oversee preferred supplier programs to ensure optimal business continuity, performance, and competitive pricing.
- Own assigned indirect categories with a strong partnership approach to enhance overall business performance and reduce customer friction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or logistics operations preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CLTD, CSCP, PMP, or equivalents are an advantage.
- Experience with sourcing, negotiating, and contracting capital expenditure, indirect, and transportation services is highly desirable.
- Background in leading logistics cost reduction or continuous improvement initiatives is preferred.
