Overview
This role involves assisting with the execution and oversight of Electrical commissioning tasks for projects, ensuring adherence to ACWA Power standards and industry best practices. The engineer will work towards thorough testing, commissioning, and handing over of Electrical systems, collaborating closely with EPC, Project Company, and NOMAC teams to ensure systems demonstrate full operational readiness as per the Owner Testing Specification (OTS).
Key Responsibilities
- Review EPC contractors' Electrical commissioning procedures and test plans.
- Engage in pre-commissioning and commissioning of Electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, protection systems, cables, UPS, battery chargers, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct functional testing, loop checks, and troubleshoot under supervision.
- Carry out inspections and checks prior to commissioning to verify compliance with design specs and codes.
- Document test outcomes and compile commissioning reports for stakeholder approval.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including design, construction, instrumentation and controls, mechanical, and DCS to address technical issues.
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers during testing and troubleshooting processes.
- Support the review of documentation including test reports, as-built drawings, and commissioning records.
- Ensure adherence to project specifications, relevant standards, and safety regulations.
- Implement safety practices during electrical energization and commissioning activities.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments to maintain workplace safety standards.
- Work under guidance of the Senior Electrical Commissioning Manager and collaborate with commissioning peers.
- Mentor and assist junior engineers and technicians with daily commissioning tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
- Applicants must have between 5 to 7 years of industry experience in Power and/or Water sector, with at least 5 years focused on Electrical commissioning for large-scale projects.
- Prior experience with EPC commissioning or OEM testing is preferred.

- Support implementation of corrective actions and improvements in Electrical commissioning processes.
- Provide feedback on the performance of EPC and vendor commissioning activities.
