Job description
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who prefers engaging in complex, customized machining projects rather than routine production tasks. This position involves programming and operating CNC machinery to produce precision parts based on engineering drawings, primarily in Tauranga. You will be working with a range of materials including engineering plastics, composites, and metals using state-of-the-art CNC technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC machine programs from engineering drawings
- Generate and enhance CAM programs for efficient machining
- Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machinery
- Produce precision components adhering to stringent tolerances
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure correctness of finished parts
- Choose suitable tooling and machining approaches
- Identify and resolve machining and programming problems
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams
- Uphold stringent safety standards and maintain a clean workshop environment
Candidate Requirements
- Trade certification in Machining, Fitting & Turning, Toolmaking, or equivalent disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in CNC programming
- Proficiency in CNC milling and turning operations
- Capability to interpret engineering blueprints
- Deep understanding of machining principles and tolerances
- Familiarity with CAM software
- Self-motivated with robust problem-solving skills
- Experience with machining engineering plastics is a distinct advantage
