Role Overview
The Neurology Department at Barts Health NHS Trust in London is seeking a Clinical Trials Practitioner to become a vital part of their team. This position involves active participation in all phases of study recruitment and development, including communicating study details with potential participants, obtaining consent, and managing data collection into specialized databases. Responsibilities also cover sample collection, processing, and secure storage in the new cryoprotection facility within the Human Tissue Research Centre at the Blizard Institute.
Primary Responsibilities
The main focus will be on clinical trial-related activities ensuring seamless, standardized handling of all samples in accordance with established SOPs across various recruiting centers. Support for team members in their analytical tasks is expected, including planning and performing immunodetection experiments such as ELISA for biomarker quantification. The role presents opportunities for professional growth with training on cutting-edge immunodetection methods including Mesoscale and Simoa technologies.
Candidate Expertise
The ideal candidate will possess technical or scientific knowledge acquired via work experience or formal qualifications, enabling them to deliver a variety of technical support functions. Familiarity with research protocols and laboratory techniques is essential.
