Role Overview
This Cleaner position involves working across multiple sites in Newcastle Upon Tyne, with shifts varying between part-time and full-time. Specific shift schedules will be clarified during the interview process. The role may also include stationary site duties and mobile assignments that require a valid UK driving licence and use of a personal vehicle.
Because the role operates within sensitive environments, applicants must qualify for high-level Security Check (SC) clearance. Candidates should review the requirements carefully before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, surface wiping, and waste disposal according to site needs.
- Maintain designated areas such as offices, corridors, washrooms, and welfare zones to the required cleanliness standards.
- Restock essential supplies like toilet paper, hand towels, and soap as needed.
- Adhere strictly to health & safety protocols, including COSHH guidelines and cleaning procedures.
- Operate cleaning tools and materials safely and correctly.
- Identify and report any maintenance problems, damages, or hazards promptly to supervisors.
- Efficiently complete assigned duties within the stipulated time frames.
- Display professionalism and courtesy at all times when interacting with clients, customers, and coworkers.
- Support any location-specific cleaning requirements as directed by management.
Candidate Requirements
- Legal eligibility to work in the UK; candidates must be UK passport holders and willing to undergo stringent SC security clearance, substantiating five years of UK work and residency history.
- Previous experience in commercial or public sector cleaning roles is advantageous but not essential.
- Sound understanding of cleaning practices, tools, and supplies.
- Familiarity with health and safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent standards of cleanliness.
- Dependable, punctual and adaptable to varied work schedules.
- Capability to comply with detailed instructions and operational procedures effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Facilities Management (FM) or similar contracted cleaning services is favoured.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations or safe handling of cleaning chemicals (training available).
