About the Company

Gulfeagle Supply is a family-run organization with more than 100 locations across the United States. It is a full-range distributor of residential and commercial roofing as well as building products. The business serves professional contractors along with homeowners, building owners, architects, and general contractors, with a focus on high quality and strong value. The company positions itself as a place to build a long-term career.

Role Overview

The Chief Operating Officer is an executive leader responsible for partnering closely with the President to turn company objectives into execution. The role is focused on improving operational performance, efficiency, and the ability to scale. It covers major operational areas such as supply chain, logistics, branch results, inventory control, operating expense discipline, and field execution. The COO must ensure day-to-day operations support the organization’s core values, including developing people and delivering profitable growth. This leader also works with executive, regional, and district leadership to help achieve revenue targets and net profit goals within budget.

Key Responsibilities

The COO will own operational planning, financial discipline, supply chain effectiveness, branch and field execution, process improvement, safety, and leadership development across the network.

Operational P&L Oversight and Budgeting

  • Create and implement operating strategies that support expansion, scalability, and profitability.
  • Oversee daily operations across all regions, districts, and branch locations directly or through the leadership team.
  • Design, refine, and apply operational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Define performance metrics and monitor them closely so corrective action can be taken when targets or budgets are at risk.
  • Lead the annual budget-building process from the ground up, working with the CRO on sales assumptions and with accounting on operating budgets.
  • Review monthly branch profit and loss statements, then work with RVPs, DMs, and BMs to correct course on revenue, expenses, and profitability.

Supply Chain, Logistics, and Inventory

  • Partner on strategy for supply chain operations, inventory planning, warehousing, and transportation.
  • Set inventory levels to balance product availability with working capital efficiency.
  • Improve delivery performance, route planning, and fleet usage.
  • Build stronger vendor relationships and oversee supplier performance, pricing, and related matters.
  • Promote consistency and best practices across distribution and logistics functions.

Branch and Field Operations

  • Guide Regional and District Managers, and potentially Branch Managers, while spending time in branches and building working relationships.
  • Hold branches accountable for performance.
  • Support operational readiness for growth, including new branch launches and market expansion.
  • Maintain high standards for service quality, order accuracy, and on-time delivery throughout the network.

Process Improvement and Systems

  • Drive continuous improvement across operational workflows.
  • Evaluate and introduce scalable platforms such as ERP, warehouse management systems, and routing tools.
  • Use data and analytics to support better decisions and operational gains.
  • Standardize workflows to create consistency and efficiency across all locations.

Safety, Compliance, and Risk

  • Ensure adherence to safety rules, transport requirements, and internal policies.
  • Encourage a strong safety-first culture and work to reduce incidents.
  • Manage operational risk, including fleet and facility safety practices.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Recruit, lead, and develop a strong operations organization.
  • Coach and support Regional and District Managers to strengthen leadership capability.
  • Work with HR on workforce planning, hiring, and training.
  • Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Help drive organizational change needed for growth and adaptability.

Qualifications and Experience

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations, supply chain, or a related area, along with at least 10 years of senior operations leadership experience, ideally in building materials, roofing, or distribution. Candidates should have a strong record of leading multi-site operations and improving performance at scale. Solid financial, analytical, and strategic thinking skills are essential, as is the ability to lead large teams in a fast-moving, service-oriented setting. Experience with ERP platforms and operational data analysis is also expected, along with a strong understanding of distribution networks, logistics, inventory management, efficiency improvements, cost structure optimization, and service performance. A history of building effective operational teams and scalable processes is important.

Work Arrangement and Travel

This is a full-time leadership role based out of BSC in Tampa, Florida. Partial remote working is possible, but the role requires travel approximately 55% to 65% of the time.
