Since launching five years ago, one in four Americans aged 18-25 have downloaded the app. Co-Star blends ancient astrology with modern technology, utilizing real-time NASA data and AI to create millions of personalized horoscopes daily. The team comprises 30 professionals with backgrounds in leading tech firms, entertainment, and top universities.
Position Overview
We seek an innovative visual designer to define Co-Star's visual identity beyond the app itself. This freelance, part-time role focuses on creating forward-thinking, high-quality design assets that feel unique and culturally relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Create campaign visuals, including advertisements, social media content, and launch materials from concept through completion.
- Apply editorial design principles to owned channels such as email series, blogs, and campaign imagery.
- Develop expressive visual systems that diverge from conventional corporate styles.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to shape the look and feel of both earned and owned media.
- Work asynchronously with a small, agile team in a remote environment.
Candidate Profile
- Senior individual contributor with approximately 5–8 years of experience in graphic design spanning editorial, campaigns, and brand identities in both print and digital mediums.
- Strong expertise in typography and composition.
- Proven ability to lead and shape campaigns beyond asset production.
- Deep engagement with visual culture across art, fashion, publishing, music, and internet trends.
- Capable of effective remote and independent work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in editorial or publication design (print or digital magazines).
- Skills in motion graphics or illustration.
- Familiarity with generative design tools.
Work Details
- Freelance contract role starting part-time with opportunities for expansion.
- Fully remote position with no travel required, though visits to NYC are welcome.
