Backend Developer - Associate in Software Engineering

About the Role

We are looking to add a Backend Developer to our CDRR Technology team within Cyber to analyze user requirements and business goals, recommending improvements to our Java and Python applications, among other responsibilities. This associate-level position involves developing and maintaining software that addresses business demands.

Responsibilities

• Analyze communicated user requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Design and develop technology solutions based on requirements and designs.
• Upgrade existing security development solutions, prioritizing improvements based on client feedback, production issues, and technical discussions.
• Create automated tests for developed solutions.
• Document processes and provide operational support to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.
• Ensure adherence to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices within development.
• Promote continuous improvement by exploring alternative technologies and participating in architectural reviews.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in backend software development.
• Strong expertise in core Java and J2EE technologies.
• Proficient in Python programming language.
• Experience with open-source frameworks such as Spring Framework and Flask.
• Familiarity with test-driven development methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with continuous integration and deployment tools like GIT, Jenkins, and Team City.
• Proficient in relational databases using JDBC, SQL, and stored procedures.
• Experience scripting with languages like Shell and using regular expressions.
• Working knowledge of frontend technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Familiarity with Agile practices including sprint planning, daily scrums, and retrospectives.
• Basic understanding of Linux operating systems and networking concepts.
• Awareness of information security concepts including Identity Access Management (IAM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and cryptography.
• Exposure to containerization and automation tools like Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes, Splunk, and public cloud management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a collaborative attitude.
