About the Role

Expleo Group, a global leader in engineering and quality services, is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist focused on backend testing within the fintech and payments sphere. You will independently lead testing initiatives to ensure the reliability and performance of payment terminal and device management platforms. This position is based onsite in Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland, and involves working with modern automation tools, APIs, and cloud-native environments as part of agile cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple project phases or moderate-scope projects by selecting suitable standards, methods, tools, and applications.
  • Create and execute basic non-functional test scripts adhering to guidelines, including setup of test environments and data monitoring.
  • Design, develop, test, and document straightforward programs or scripts supporting engineered systems.
  • Identify risks accurately and communicate them effectively to stakeholders; manage issues, risks, actions, dependencies, and defects to support project success.
  • Coordinate research and information gathering to define problems and prepare response plans.
  • Create traceability between test cases and requirements; report system quality status and metrics.
  • Provide project status updates and mentor junior team members while collaborating across teams to meet overall objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred certifications include ISTQB Foundation, and certifications in non-functional testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner, LoadUI, MSVS, Fortify).
  • Additional credentials in Quality Engineering such as CISSP or CISM are advantageous.
  • Experience with non-functional testing, performance, and automation tools such as Performance Center, LoadRunner, StormRunner, LoadUI, JMeter, Neoload, BlazeMeter, SilkTest, Service Virtualisation, Jenkins, Selenium, UFT, Cucumber, Gherkin, TOSCA, BurpSuite, Fortify, Rational, ALM, and Jira.
  • Intermediate understanding of quality engineering methodologies, emerging technologies, and domain knowledge.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (VB, Java, or C#) and scripting languages (Shell, Perl).
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and virtualization.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-management skills with adaptability to evolving tasks and environments.

Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in backend system testing, ideally within payment terminal or device management platforms.
  • Expertise in API automation and backend testing with little reliance on UI testing.
  • Hands-on with automation frameworks such as Cucumber, REST Assured, and Serenity; proficient in Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript scripting.
  • Experience testing terminal configuration services, device parameter handling, versioned configuration, or similar backend processes.
  • Skill integrating automated testing within CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Testing experience with payment applications on PAX Android POS terminals.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native deployment models, microservices, and container orchestration.
  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence, and Gerrit.
  • Relevant domain experience in fintech/payments related to cards, terminals, and backend processing.
