About the Role

As an Associate Engineer in Data Center operations based in Hillsboro, OR, you will play a hands-on technical role ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the organization's global infrastructure.
This position requires full-time, on-site attendance at the Hillsboro office with possible evening or overnight shifts (3:00 PM - 12:00 AM or 11:00 PM - 8:00 AM) to meet business demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out hardware repairs such as replacing malfunctioning drives, DIMMs, fans, power supplies, and other components within servers and network equipment.
- Resolve advanced hardware issues escalated by contracted technicians and escalate complex problems to senior engineers or engineering teams as necessary.
- Install new SSDs and NVMe drives into servers.
- Perform fundamental troubleshooting at the Linux operating system and IPMI levels across various server platforms.
- Support engineering teams by assisting in diagnosing and fixing autobuild (Linux Kickstart) failures, including delayed node deployment issues.
- Identify and fix hardware-related network connectivity problems.
- Execute hardware setup and repair tasks outside of planned quarterly growth projects.
- Monitor and manage Jira tickets to ensure quality and timely resolution by contract technicians.
- Participate in onboarding and training new contracted data center technicians on operational tasks.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to contracted technicians to enhance service consistency and quality.
- Join an on-call rotation to support worldwide data center operations.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience in data center engineering roles.
- At least 1 year of proficiency in Linux troubleshooting.
- Minimum 1 year experience in server hardware troubleshooting.
- Preferred candidates have a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes over 2 years in data center engineering, Linux troubleshooting, and server hardware repair.
Additional Relevant Skills
- Hardware deployment and installation expertise.
- Familiarity with project management principles.
- Experience with ticketing systems such as Jira and ServiceNow.
- Strong Linux/Unix system knowledge.
- Skills in diagnosing server and network hardware issues.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $74,000 to $122,000 annually, with actual pay based on experience, skillset, certifications, and location.
