One position is within the Part One Psychology Service (POPS) and the other with the Aneurin Bevan Specialist Drug & Alcohol Service (ABSDAS). The ABSDAS role focuses on individuals with substance use and complex needs. This includes coordinating the Co-Occurring Needs Panel (COG), a multi-agency forum addressing complex cases. Duties include administrative support, psychological input, and delivering group (e.g., DBT-informed emotional skills training) and individual therapy under supervision by a senior clinical psychologist. This work is grounded in trauma- and attachment-informed principles, emphasizing engagement and inclusion of marginalized individuals.

- Travel across the Gwent region to provide services efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a good honours degree in Psychology (First or Second Class).
- Eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Completed study in line with Matrics Cymru competencies or qualified as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.
- Paid experience as an Assistant Psychologist is essential.
- Postgraduate training in psychology, mental health practice or research is desirable.
- Previous experience delivering group interventions and ability to reflect on lived psychological distress is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
- Basic proficiency in word processing and statistical analysis.
- Effective use of supervision to set and review professional goals.
- Experience with databases and statistical software such as SPSS and Excel is preferred.
- Ability to navigate the Gwent area to provide pan-regional services.
