This position is accountable for managing electrical maintenance activities related to Balance of Plant (BoP) and Coal Handling Plant (CHP) systems to ensure uninterrupted plant operations. The role emphasizes planning and executing annual overhauling (AOH) and complete overhauling (COH) to bolster system dependability and performance. It also entails overseeing teams and external service providers while ensuring strict adherence to safety, legal, and operational standards to drive efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical maintenance operations for BoP/CHP including associated facilities such as RO Plant, Sea Intake, FGD, Hydrogen Plant, DM Plant, Conveyor Belts, Crusher House, Stacker Reclaimers, etc.
  • Develop and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Standard Maintenance Plans (SMPs) consistent with best industry practices.
  • Support and implement improvement projects within the BoP and CHP sectors.
  • Plan and apply comprehensive maintenance strategies encompassing preventive, predictive, and corrective methods to minimize downtime and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Manage annual overhauling and maintenance during plant outages ensuring safety, timeliness, and quality.
  • Perform AOH and COH activities effectively within budget and allocated workforce.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct proactive maintenance and testing to maintain equipment within operational limits, recommending corrections when necessary.
  • Supervise performance and contractual compliance of business associates including bill certifications.
  • Ensure timely execution of Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and condition monitoring tasks.
  • Identify and initiate process and system improvements aligned with operational goals and leadership directives.
  • Handle repairs and refurbishments of equipment in associated areas adhering to high quality standards.
  • Utilize SAP software for maintenance tracking, spare parts inventory management, and notification closure.
  • Monitor condition and availability of critical electrical equipment including service transformers, switchgear, motors, DC systems, DG sets, elevator systems, chimney lighting, stacker reclaimer auxiliaries, and wagon tripler.
  • Assist with inventory control and the development of essential indigenous spares for BoP and CHP equipment.
  • Organize electrical equipment testing across BoP, CHP, and related zones and manage procurement requisitions and service invoicing formalities.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM, and CHETNA safety and management frameworks.
  • Maintain statutory and legal compliance including licenses and certifications requirements for electrical systems and elevators.
  • Participate in hazard mitigation, safety drills, and provide safety training to safeguard personnel and assets.
  • Drive digitalization and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficacy and identify improvement opportunities through data analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate holds a BE/B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline and possesses over 11 years of professional experience in electrical maintenance within power plants or comparable heavy industry settings, with a preference for the power generation sector focusing on BoP and CHP operations.
