Role Overview
The Assistant Manager will ensure the store operates smoothly and efficiently while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a fresh food offering in a clean and safe setting. The role focuses on achieving key store goals related to sales and profitability by managing people and store operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold Centra's core brand values: Proud, Energetic, Imaginative, and Community-Focused.
- Set, track, and meet sales targets related to gross profit margin, net margin, waste reduction, and other KPIs established with the Store Manager.
- Ensure accurate implementation of planograms and maintain the correct product range in the store.
- Merchandise the store and maintain presentation standards at the highest level.
- Lead by example, fostering a positive workplace atmosphere that promotes teamwork and inclusivity.
- Facilitate open and respectful communication between employees and management in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Assist the Store Manager with team development, training, and ensuring smooth daily store operations.
- Manage employee performance through regular feedback, recognition, and encouragement.
- Handle customer inquiries professionally and efficiently while adhering to store policy.
- Understand and work to achieve profit margins across all departments.
- Actively participate in and support new initiatives and innovative work methods.
Candidate Requirements
- Approximately two years’ relevant experience preferred.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word.
- Experience managing cash and till reconciliations.
- Strong communication and delegation capabilities.
- A highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of achieving KPIs and targets, with commercial acumen and brand awareness.
- A passion for grocery retail and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
