Position Summary
The Real Canadian Superstore in Duncan, BC, located at 291 Cowichan Way, is seeking an Asset Protection Representative (formerly Loss Prevention). This role is key in maintaining a safe and welcoming shopping environment by minimizing loss and increasing store profitability through vigilant safety practices and investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prevent, detect, and apprehend theft and fraudulent activities within retail locations.
- Work collaboratively with other Asset Protection Representatives on provincial or national Organized Retail Crime cases.
- Engage regularly with local law enforcement to support investigations.
- Conduct internal investigations, gathering and presenting evidence for court or arbitration.
- Identify potential shrink opportunities via core compliance and operational procedures.
- Strengthen partnerships with store management through meetings and coaching colleagues on Asset Protection policies.
- Assist in conducting store-level audits.
- Participate in community events to promote awareness and engagement.
- Be flexible to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, fulfilling a standard 40-hour workweek.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Must hold a valid Provincial Security Guard License.
- Basic knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, Powers of Arrest, CCTV and surveillance systems.
- Proficiency with Windows applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Professional, approachable, and friendly attitude.
- High initiative and integrity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation and Benefits
