Role overview
This role sits within the Store Support Center in Commerce, California. The Analyst, Consumer Insights will own consumer, market, and competitive research work that informs marketing plans and broader corporate strategy. A major part of the position is becoming highly proficient in two mobile data platforms and using them to uncover insights that support multiple retail functions, including Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Store Design and Construction, and Strategy.
What you will do
- Help shape how consumer insights data is used across the company and influence the strategy for deepening understanding of target customers.
- Design strong qualitative research approaches and statistical methodologies that produce reliable surveys, studies, and analytics.
- Source, compare, and evaluate additional consumer information and related datasets, such as demographic, market share, and economic data.
- Coordinate with outside agencies, partners, and contract vendors, with direct impact on marketing spend and quality control.
- Investigate and solve data quality, reporting, and analytics issues by working with vendors or accessing internal systems and databases.
- Plan, run, and summarize customer surveys and other research activities.
- Conduct ongoing and ad hoc research such as market studies, focus groups, customer intercepts, and mystery shopping.
- Create and maintain a structured repository of intelligence gathered through research efforts, including relevant studies and published findings.
- Continuously improve the usefulness, quality, and efficiency of research and analytics work.
- Support senior leadership in building strong cross-functional relationships as an insights partner.
- Present findings clearly to senior leaders and translate statistical and business language into practical insights.
- Work effectively with key decision-makers across the organization and lead cross-functional teams when needed.
Experience and education
A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in an analytical role. Experience in retail is strongly preferred, and grocery experience is an added advantage. Familiarity with consumer research and market research tools and methods is expected.
Compensation
The offered annual salary range for this position is $70,304 to $90,000. Starting pay will depend on qualifications, relevant experience, and skills.
