Role overview
This is a contract-based remote opportunity for an exceptional website designer to support a frontier research initiative by producing and assessing high-quality training data and design evaluations. The assignment is centred on website and digital experience design, so a portfolio showing strong work in UX/UI, marketing websites, editorial platforms, and digital products is essential.
Key work
- Develop, review, and judge strong website design samples and digital experiences that contribute to the research project.
- Use advanced knowledge of visual design, user experience, and current web standards to evaluate the quality, usability, and overall execution of modern websites.
- Create production-ready digital experiences for marketing sites, editorial platforms, interactive experiences, and web-based products.
- Apply responsive design principles and modern design systems to deliver refined, high-standard work.
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team and produce output aligned with the expectations of top international design studios.
- Maintain consistently excellent quality, which may improve consideration for future project assignments.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate has substantial experience in website and digital experience design, backed by a portfolio that clearly demonstrates world-class UX/UI work across marketing sites, editorial platforms, and interactive digital products. Experience creating digital experiences for leading technology companies, major brands, startups, or cultural institutions through a respected digital design studio is highly valued. You should be able to apply responsive web principles, contribute to modern design systems, and assess digital work against current benchmarks for visual quality, usability, and execution. Experience at Pentagram, AKQA, DesignStudio, Koto, ustwo, or an equivalent leading UK-based digital design studio is strongly preferred. An outstanding portfolio is mandatory, and applicants without demonstrable website design work will not be considered.
Compensation and hours
The rate is stated as $150 to $200 per hour, with work available for up to 40 hours each week.
