Job description
Overview
The Warehouse Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth warehouse and distribution activities by managing inventory, maintaining organization, and overseeing logistics following donor policies and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain both physical and digital inventory records accurately, including stock cards and ledgers.
- Carry out frequent physical stock counts to validate records and detect discrepancies, losses, or damages.
- Supervise the receiving, storing, and dispatching of goods in a safe and efficient manner aligned with standard procedures and donor guidelines.
- Apply warehouse best practices such as FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) systems consistently.
- Ensure goods are correctly handled, stacked, and stored to maximize space while preventing damage or contamination.
- Guarantee compliance of stored items with donor and organizational quality and storage requirements.
- Introduce and monitor controls to prevent spoilage, contamination, and pest invasion.
- Keep a well-organized and secure filing system for all commodity documentation and records.
- Manage maintenance and proper operation of warehouse equipment.
- Adhere to and enforce safety and security protocols, including access control measures within the warehouse.
- Coordinate effectively with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely supply receipt and dispatch activities.
- Provide support to commodity officers and mobilizers during distribution processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess an HND or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture, or related disciplines.
- Have 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in warehouse operations or inventory management, preferably within the commodities sector.
- Demonstrate solid knowledge of commodities storage methods, regulatory compliance, and health and safety protocols.
- Physical capability to remain standing for extended periods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent in accurate documentation and recordkeeping.

- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, with an emphasis on Excel for reporting and documentation purposes.
