Role Overview
The Vice President of Project Management plays a pivotal leadership role steering project governance and the strategic delivery of critical initiatives. This executive is accountable for creating an enterprise-wide project management framework, overseeing the project portfolio, and ensuring major projects meet objectives within designated budgets and timelines. Through the deployment of standardized and effective project management practices, this position aims to translate corporate strategies and business goals into successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the overarching project management strategy and roadmap for the company.
- Establish and maintain the enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) and governance structures.
- Create and refine standardized methodologies and processes for managing the entire project lifecycle.
- Continuously improve project management tools, workflows, and systems.
- Manage the company’s portfolio of projects, prioritizing and aligning them with strategic aims.
- Optimize allocation of resources and budgets to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead high-impact projects such as digital transformation, system upgrades, and business launches.
- Implement stage-gate reviews, milestone tracking, and delivery mechanisms to ensure quality and timely completion.
- Address and resolve critical project risks and issues promptly.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among departments like Product, R&D, Operations, Marketing, and Finance.
- Enhance organizational execution by establishing communication channels and escalation processes.
- Define and monitor project KPIs to assess performance, cost control, and resource use.
- Conduct project reviews to drive continuous improvement and report outcomes to executive leadership.
- Build and lead the PMO team, fostering project management competencies and talent development.
- Promote adoption of professional certifications and methodologies such as PMP and Agile.
- Develop risk management frameworks to identify and mitigate project risks ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Protect the company’s reputation by ensuring ethical project execution and customer trust.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Project Management, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Preferred certifications include PMP, PgMP; MBA is an advantage.
- Over 20 years’ experience in project or comprehensive operations management.
- Minimum 15 years managing large-scale, complex projects or PMOs.
- Proven success delivering cross-functional and cross-regional initiatives.
- Experience with digital transformation or enterprise project management preferred.
- Strong capabilities in project governance, portfolio oversight, strategy execution, problem-solving, risk management, and cross-department coordination.
- Leadership experience in large conglomerates or multinational companies is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Agile, SAFe frameworks, ERP, CRM, or platform upgrade projects is a plus.
- Experienced in reporting project progress and impact to C-suite executives and boards.
