Van Driver / Yard Operative

About the Role

TJ O'Mahony, located in Navan, County Meath, and part of HPC Sales Ltd., a leading provider in Ireland's building supplies and home improvement sector, is seeking a permanent, full-time Van Driver / Yard Operative to enhance their team.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport products to customers using a van.
• Carry out daily vehicle and cargo inspections, reporting any issues promptly.
• Perform multi-drop deliveries as well as branch-to-branch transfers.
• Drive across varied distances, both short and long.
• Coordinate delivery timetables and routes under the guidance of the Branch Manager.
• Handle all freight with safety and efficiency.
• Pick, wrap, and process sales orders, including completion of relevant warehouse dispatch paperwork.
• Load and unload trucks safely and effectively.
• Unpack, record, and store stock and new deliveries properly.
• Relocate and stack materials using appropriate handling techniques.
• Adhere to correct manual handling methods.
• Carry out general warehouse duties to maintain smooth daily operations.
• Verify that all finished product packages are securely sealed and correctly labeled.
• Ensure all Proof of Deliveries (PODs) are signed by recipients and promptly returned to the office.
• Consistently follow all Health and Safety regulations as stipulated by company policy.

Requirements

• Must possess a full clean driving license.
• Holds a Category C truck driving license.
• Have good knowledge of local roads and surrounding areas.
• Exhibit strong customer service aptitude and good interpersonal skills.
• Maintain excellent punctuality.
• Be a team player capable of working independently when required.
• Highly motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
