About the Role
Join our Hannover-based team, working full- or part-time in a hybrid setup, crafting digital platforms for prominent clients in sectors such as insurance, energy, and industry. You will be involved in developing tariff calculators, customer portals, configurators, and application flows used by hundreds of thousands. Our goal is to create seamless experiences where users never sense underlying complexity. Unlike typical agencies, we offer deep client relationships, many lasting over a decade, leaning towards product management rather than mere project execution.
We seek an experienced UX/UI Designer to immerse themselves in products, shaping designs and owning projects from initial concept through post-launch improvements. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and identities.
Daily Responsibilities
- Lead project conception and interface design, encompassing research, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and finalized UI designs. Proactively ask key questions without waiting for briefs, always prioritizing user needs.
- Ensure quality beyond initial design by overseeing detailed implementation and maintaining involvement for optimization and further development after launch.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional team (6–8 members including consulting, project management, design, and development) working directly with clients. Plan and moderate workshops, present concepts to stakeholders, and justify design choices, representing users from the start.
- Develop design systems with components, variants, and documentation using tools like Figma, while being open to emerging technologies. Manage developer handoffs with specifications, states, and responsive behaviors, enhancing cooperation with development using tools like Nordcraft.
- Focus on measurable impact by employing data-driven methods such as A/B testing, user interviews, analytics, heatmaps, and conversion funnels. Treat go-live as a beginning, not an end.
- Share knowledge and embrace challenges through design reviews, constructive feedback on team members’ work, and internal presentations to promote mutual learning.
- Utilize AI thoughtfully to accelerate research synthesis, concept exploration, and UX copywriting, recognizing it as an aid rather than a substitute and emphasizing precise context setting for better outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Several years of experience in conceptualizing and designing digital products, especially complex and explanation-heavy applications.
- Strong conceptual skills, capable of creating information architectures, structuring user flows, and devising interaction concepts. Comfortable handling complex subject matter and consistently staying curious in long-term client relationships.
- Proficiency in Figma including components, auto layout, prototyping, and design tokens; experience building and evolving design systems; enthusiasm for experimenting with new tools.
- Expertise in visual details and accessibility covering typography, color, spacing, responsive design, and animations. Incorporate WCAG standards as part of fundamental design philosophy.
- Effective communication, able to rationalize design decisions to developers, project managers, and clients. Facilitate workshops and provide realistic effort estimates. German language skills at C1 level for client interaction and workshop participation; English fluency for tools and documentation.
Additional Plus Skills
- Understanding of data like heatmaps, conversion metrics, and usage statistics to inform design decisions, without requiring deep analytics expertise.
- Technical insight into digital product functionality to create better concepts and anticipate implementation challenges, such as those concerning animations.
- Familiarity with research methodologies including usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and competitive analysis, knowing when to apply them and translate insights into design improvements.
Benefits
- Truly flat hierarchies with open-door policy to team leads, direct client interaction, and the freedom to propose ideas without bureaucratic barriers.
- Genuine work-life integration supporting flexible schedules to accommodate family or hobbies, understanding needs like childcare pickups, illness, or school holidays.
- Hybrid work model with 3 remote days and 2 onsite days at Hanomaghof, enabling in-person interaction despite flexible arrangements; biweekly agency meetings with communal vegan lunches.
- Fair and transparent salary aligned with market standards, discussed openly early in the process with guidance available before application.
- Unlimited opportunities for professional growth including conferences, courses, certifications, and literature, fully supported by the company.
- Up-to-date tools and hardware including Mac or Linux devices, GitHub, Linear, Slack, Figma, and integration of AI tools pragmatically.
- Additional perks such as Germany-wide public transport ticket (Deutschlandticket), job bike leasing, company pension schemes, asset-building benefits, corporate fitness, social events, offsite meetings, cold beverages, premium espresso, and fresh fruit.
How to Apply
- Submit your CV along with samples of work you are proud of—portfolio, case studies, or specific projects. No cover letter required, but a brief introductory note is welcome.
- An initial conversation can take place via video or in-person (preferred) accompanied by a team member and the managing director.
- If successful, spend a day meeting the team, exploring projects, sharing lunch, and deepening mutual understanding.
- Following unanimous agreement, receive your contract draft and discuss details.
- From day one, receive tailored onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing feedback.
