Role Overview
The User Growth Regional Lead will spearhead Wave’s user expansion initiatives within Sierra Leone, managing teams responsible for acquiring new users and boosting retention. This role demands strategic leadership to grow daily active users for money transfers and bill payments while upholding Wave’s values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of supervisors who manage field distributors tasked with recruiting new users of Wave's financial products.
- Identify barriers hindering user acquisition and engagement, implementing solutions to optimize growth and retention in assigned territories.
- Devise and execute retention strategies for newly gained users to ensure sustained active use.
- Recruit, train, and oversee distribution teams; establish scalable distribution infrastructures.
- Plan and refine the quarterly roadmap for distribution teams to meet growth targets within Sierra Leone, iterating tactics as needed.
- Leverage data analytics to guide distribution approaches and assess team performance.
- Collaborate closely with agency teams to synchronize key goals and operationalize strategies effectively.
- Contribute insights from team experiences to enhance Wave’s broader distribution strategy.
- Manifest Wave’s core values within your team through exemplary leadership.
Key Details
- Location: Sierra Leone, with a readiness to relocate regionally if required.
- Must possess valid work authorization for Sierra Leone.
- Position is permanent with competitive, formula-based salary packages.

Candidate Requirements
- Fluency in English, Krio, and at least one additional local language is mandatory.
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience managing field teams or user acquisition groups.
- At least 2 years’ tenure in designing user acquisition strategies for telecom, payment services, FMCG, or financial firms.
- Proven track record leading large teams of 50 or more individuals.

- Successful planning and execution of customer acquisition in mobile, financial, or FMCG sectors.
- Clear and frequent communicator both verbally and in writing, valuing overcommunication to avoid misunderstandings.
- Meticulous attention to detail and pursuit of high standards.
- Self-driven with a proactive approach to meet challenging objectives independently while appropriately escalating issues.
- Resilient and persistent to ensure task completion.
- Adaptable to rapidly evolving priorities and tasks.
- Comfortable with technology tools including Excel and learning new software.
