Role Overview
We are seeking a User Experience/User Interface Designer to lead and own the design of our Shopify storefront, encompassing elements such as the homepage, product detail pages (PDP), product listing pages (PLP), cart, and various landing pages. The candidate will utilize an existing component system to create new pages and modules while relying on customer behavior data to inform design priorities. Collaboration with creative and development teams will be essential to move concepts through to polished, functional web pages.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UX/UI design efforts across site experiences, including homepage and landing page iterations, PDP and PLP modules within the established Shopify theme and component library.
- Recommend, develop, and communicate new component ideas, customizing or extending components using HTML/CSS as needed and preparing detailed specifications for deeper theme modifications.
- Implement Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) best practices in navigation, PLP, and PDP areas, such as size-based merchandising and product-solution framing.
- When system limitations arise, propose new site sections or blocks supported by clear reasoning rather than defaulting to custom builds.
- Collaborate closely with the Creative team to align site experience with brand vision, proactively identifying platform constraints early in the process.
- Prepare developer-ready specifications and thorough documentation, including precise annotations to ensure accurate implementation by team members.
- Manage complete ownership of designs including quality assurance before launch to ensure high standards are met without reliance on post-release fixes.
- Maintain open communication with ecommerce, development, and creative stakeholders to avoid bottlenecks and align scope and timelines effectively.
- Leverage analytics data such as heatmaps, session recordings, and funnel drop-off metrics to pinpoint friction points and set design priorities.
- Link design choices directly to measurable metrics like conversion rate, add-to-cart rate, and funnel progression rather than focusing solely on aesthetics.
Required Qualifications
- Robust UX/UI portfolio demonstrating experience with e-commerce or direct-to-consumer brands.
- Practical, hands-on expertise with Shopify Online Store architecture including sections, blocks, templates, schema, and metafields.
- Ability to assess platform limitations prior to designing and foundational knowledge of Liquid templating, HTML, and CSS.
- Proficiency in Figma within a structured design system setup, including component usage, variants, and Auto Layout techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail with accountability for maintaining the quality of own work through to release.
- Ability to interpret data from heatmaps, session replays, and A/B testing results to make informed design decisions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Replo or other landing page creation tools.
- Background in apparel or intimates product categories.
