Key Responsibilities
- Assess risk profiles of employer groups and set accurate pricing for level-funded health plans.
- Work closely with Sales teams to develop competitive proposals that attract business while preserving profitability.
- Utilize data analysis to balance risk tolerance and growth objectives effectively.
- Contribute to the design and enhancement of underwriting policies, procedures, and tools as the company scales.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally with Product, Actuarial, and Customer Success teams to optimize the underwriting experience.
- Keep track of underwriting results and market trends to refine pricing and risk management strategies continuously.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of three years underwriting experience, especially with small group or level-funded health insurance products.
- Deep knowledge of health insurance pricing, risk evaluation, and underwriting standards.
- Comfortable making informed risk decisions in a dynamic, startup-style environment.
- Strong communication skills to articulate underwriting outcomes to non-expert stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams.
- Adaptable to ambiguity and dedicated to continuous process improvement.
- Prior experience in insurtech, insurance carriers, or TPAs serving the small group market is preferred.
- Familiarity with underwriting automation technologies.
- Proficient in data analytics tools such as Excel.

Compensation for this position ranges from $85,000 to $115,000 base salary annually, plus equity, depending on candidate experience and qualifications.
