About the Programme
Fruition Horticulture (BOP) Ltd is looking for a committed Tutor/Kaiako to join the Hei Whanake team in Tauranga or Katikati. This is a full-time, permanent position focused on helping rangatahi in the Bay of Plenty move into meaningful futures through practical learning in the primary industries.
Hei Whanake is a 20-week programme for rangatahi who are not currently participating in education or employment. It is designed to strengthen confidence, job-ready capabilities, and introductory horticulture knowledge. Successful participants complete the New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2), including the Self-Management and Employability Skills strand.
Role Overview
In this role, you will deliver practical, engaging learning experiences for rangatahi and help them develop the confidence and capability needed for work and further training. You will support learners through both individual guidance and small-group coaching, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment.
Key Duties
- Plan and facilitate hands-on learning sessions across the 20-week programme.
- Help participants grow their soft skills, work readiness, and understanding of the industry.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to build confidence and capability.
- Create a welcoming learning space that is inclusive and culturally respectful.
- Develop positive relationships with rangatahi, their whānau, and support services.
- Engage with local employers and stakeholders in viticulture and horticulture.
- Collaborate with the Tauranga-based Regional Coordinator and kaiako from other regions.
About You
You are an experienced facilitator of youth or adult learning who is comfortable working with rangatahi facing a range of challenges or barriers. You understand, or have worked closely with, Māori and Pacific learners, and you bring a steady, empathetic, and practical approach to teaching and mentoring.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong relationship-building skills, clear communication, and solid organisation. A Level 5 Certificate in Adult Education or another relevant teaching qualification is required.
Role Details
- Position type: Full-time, permanent.
- Work location: Tauranga or Katikati.
- Expected start: Mid-July 2026.
- Support structure: Regional Coordinator based in Tauranga, plus a wider national team.
