Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Tunnels Manager (Roads O&M) to join the infrastructure management team in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will lead the operation and maintenance of road tunnels, with responsibility for safety, efficiency, asset reliability, and long-term performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute maintenance plans for road tunnel assets.
- Direct day-to-day tunnel operations and upkeep activities while ensuring full compliance with safety requirements and applicable regulations.
- Perform periodic inspections and risk reviews to detect issues early and apply preventive actions.
- Oversee the performance of tunnel systems such as ventilation, lighting, fire protection, and traffic control.
- Manage, guide, and develop engineers and technicians, encouraging ongoing improvement within the team.
- Work closely with government bodies, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Prepare and control budgets for tunnel operations and maintenance initiatives.
- Set up and uphold quality assurance processes to maintain high operational standards.
- Monitor industry developments and emerging technologies, and introduce suitable improvements where relevant.
- Produce and present regular updates on tunnel performance, maintenance work, and safety indicators.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electrical-Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering is required.
- At least 10 years of experience in tunnel operations and maintenance is necessary.
- Demonstrated experience managing large infrastructure projects is expected.
- Strong technical knowledge of tunnel systems, infrastructure assets, and maintenance methods is essential.
- A solid grasp of safety procedures and risk management in tunnel operations is needed.
- Proven leadership and people-management capabilities are important.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are required for working with varied stakeholders.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are needed.
- Familiarity with international tunnel management standards and best practices is required.
- Knowledge of local regulations and environmental considerations in Qatar is important.
- Professional certifications related to tunnel operations and safety are preferred.
Additional Information
This role focuses on road tunnel operations and maintenance within the Roads O&M function. The position is based in Doha, Qatar.
