Overview

Higgins Wairarapa seeks a skilled and driven Traffic Management (TTM) Supervisor to become part of our Traffic Team. This role is vital in ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant traffic management services across a range of civil construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects within the Wairarapa region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee daily traffic management tasks to align with project schedules and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Project Engineers, and Managers to brief and equip teams comprehensively.
  • Maintain the traffic diary and keep leadership informed of upcoming jobs and prospects.
  • Ensure Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Traffic Management Diagrams (TMDs), and related site paperwork are accurate, current, and compliant.
  • Manage the submission and progress tracking of TMP approvals in line with client and road controlling authority standards.
  • Perform site audits to verify proper setups, documentation, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide coaching and skill development to traffic teams, including labour hire personnel and trainees.
  • Maintain traffic-related stock, equipment, and yard organisation effectively.
  • Lead toolbox meetings and foster a robust culture of safety.
  • Address performance and behavioral matters promptly and constructively.
  • Complete all administrative paperwork, timesheets, and purchase records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the financial performance including costs and revenue within the traffic division.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Essential STMS Level 1 certification.
  • Construct Safe Tier 1 and Site Safe Civil Passport qualifications.
  • Demonstrated solid experience in Traffic Management with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of New Zealand Government Traffic Management (NZGTTM) standards.
  • Competency in preparing Traffic Management Diagrams (TMDs).
  • Minimum of three years working experience in traffic management or civil construction.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
  • Strong dedication to health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
  • Preferred qualifications include STMS Level 2 or 3 practising credentials, NZTA TTM Worker, or Mentor certifications.
