About the Team
The Emerging Markets team boasts over 30 Portfolio Managers based in New York, London, Geneva, and Singapore. The team engages in trading diverse instruments including Rates, Forex, Credit, and various derivatives, focusing on regions such as Asia, CEEMEA, and Latin America to capitalize on market movements and themes. Specifically, the Singapore office includes more than 10 seasoned Portfolio Managers known for their strong experience in Asian Emerging Markets macro trading.
Role Overview
This Trading Assistant position offers the chance to collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers and engage directly with market makers and sales professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring market developments and sourcing optimal liquidity to execute trades on behalf of Portfolio Managers.
- Providing insightful market updates and identifying impactful news that inform trading decisions.
- Recording trade bookings, tracking positions, and ensuring accurate position data in internal systems.
- Coordinating communications between the trading desk, middle/back office teams, and external trading counterparties.
- Leading initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing desk efficiency as opportunities arise.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant experience in sales or trading roles at sell-side banks, or execution roles within buy-side funds, with a solid grasp of Emerging Markets Asia rates and FX market dynamics.
- A degree from a respected university paired with a clear passion for investment products, particularly in rates, FX, and derivatives.
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational abilities to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently.
- High attention to detail and thoroughness in conducting checks and processes.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate frequent interactions with Portfolio Managers, internal teams, and external parties.
- Proficiency in analytical thinking and Excel, necessary for performing ad-hoc projects and building spreadsheets that improve daily workflows.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and readiness to take on increased responsibilities over time.
