Job Purpose
This full-time, permanent role involves spending four days per week in the London office and one day working remotely. The Trade Marketing Manager will drive efforts to market brands effectively in a highly competitive industry, focusing on innovative fragrance concepts appealing primarily to millennial and Gen-Z consumers. The role requires strategic oversight of UK trade marketing plans for a dynamic brand portfolio, working collaboratively with retail partners such as Boots, Superdrug, and The Perfume Shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement trade marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and consumer demand among retail and distribution channels.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and brand teams to align trade marketing initiatives with UK sales targets and marketing goals.
- Oversee the UK Trade Marketing Calendar, ensuring timely and flawless execution of brand activations and artwork requests.
- Manage daily communications with key retail partners’ buying and marketing departments.
- Lead presentations at major customer meetings, providing insightful marketing and promotional support guidance.
- Inject creative and innovative ideas to engage both customers and consumers effectively.
- Evaluate promotional campaigns to maximize return on investment and sales growth across multiple channels.
- Supervise the Visual Merchandising & Events Manager to ensure trade events align with brand standards and are executed punctually.
- Administer the Trade Marketing budget while analyzing performance and sales data to optimize outcomes.
- Monitor competitor launches and retail marketing activities to maintain Designer Parfums’ leadership in fragrance retail.
- Work closely with the Visual Merchandising & Events Manager to enhance brand presence in retail, optimize the brand experience, and drive significant sampling and promotional activations.
- Maintain brand visual presentation standards by coordinating with the UK Brand team to apply guidelines across all customer touchpoints.
- Communicate trade marketing plans and brand publicity clearly with stakeholders, including retail operations, sales, warehousing, customer service, and management teams.
- Support the Senior UK Marketing Manager in presenting marketing programs and providing Sales Managers with necessary marketing tools.
- Conduct regular store visits to gather competitor insights and stay updated on market trends.
- Coordinate with Sales Managers to ensure brand forecasts incorporate upcoming promotions and that activities are communicated promptly for supply planning.
- Manage brand assets distribution efficiently to third parties, retail marketing, internal marketing, and visual merchandising teams.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from brand, sales, and accounts teams.
- Assist with administrative tasks in the UK Marketing department, including purchase order processing, internal approvals, and trade invoice validation.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years’ experience in trade marketing, sales, or marketing roles within a leading FMCG company.
- Essential industry experience in fragrance, personal care, beauty, or cosmetics, with background in B2B beauty markets considered advantageous.
- Proven expertise managing key accounts with a trade marketing perspective.
- Marketing qualification or degree, preferably in a business-related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Strong passion for the beauty sector.
- Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in managing creative content and design.
- Sound understanding of sales and marketing integration in retail, brand management, or trade marketing roles.
- Knowledge of the UK trade landscape, ideally focused on beauty products.
