Role Overview
This 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity is based in Sydney or Melbourne with a hybrid work arrangement requiring three days on-site. The Technical Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and completion of technical projects, focusing on IT infrastructure, network architecture, and retail technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support delivery across diverse technical projects including operating system upgrades, hardware refreshes, network components, cloud and telephony installations, ensuring minimal business disruption.
- Act as the main bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, leveraging comprehensive knowledge of network topologies, data centers, cloud infrastructure, and security standards.
- Coordinate and oversee testing activities such as system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT), guaranteeing high-quality project outcomes.
- Manage vendor relationships through contract drafting, negotiation, and enforcement to secure advantageous terms and budget adherence.
- Drive technology deployments across multiple hospitality and retail locations, addressing operational challenges and timelines.
- Develop detailed project documentation, risk mitigation plans, and communicate progress and risks to all organizational levels.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable project tasks.
- Oversee project budgets by tracking expenses, forecasting resource needs, and controlling costs.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of technical project management experience with large-scale IT implementations.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, including WAN/LAN, Wi-Fi, telecommunications, virtualization, cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), EUC, certificate management, and data center operations.
- Experience in contract management and negotiations with technology vendors and managed service providers.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively.
- Prior experience in retail or hospitality sectors, managing projects impacting operations, customer experience, or supply chains.
- Certification in project management such as PMP or PRINCE2 is highly valued.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with proven stakeholder management capabilities.
