Job description
Overview
The Technical Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, configuration, operation, and upkeep of simulation training equipment, systems, and facilities within the Simulation and Training Centre (SIMTAC). This position entails technical assistance during healthcare simulation-based training, troubleshooting equipment and software, maintaining meticulous records, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective training delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage the setup and use of simulation devices and training environments for healthcare education programs.
- Operate, diagnose issues, and perform maintenance on simulation hardware, medical devices, and associated software applications.
- Provide on-site technical support throughout training sessions, including simulation execution and post-session debriefings.
- Work collaboratively with IT and Audio-Visual departments to enhance the functionality of simulation and training technologies.
- Keep accurate logs of training activities, maintain equipment inventories, and document operational procedures.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives by supporting process enhancement efforts and managing relevant data.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- At least two years of pertinent work experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with healthcare simulation systems or audiovisual technologies is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities coupled with effective communication and organizational skills.
- Self-driven team member capable of multitasking and working autonomously.
