About the Role
Auckland Council's Swimming Pool Compliance team is seeking a dedicated Swimming Pool Fencing Allocator to play a crucial role in ensuring residential pool fences comply with safety standards throughout Tāmaki Makaurau. This position involves managing the entire process of swimming pool fencing inspections, including scheduling field staff and acting as a knowledgeable liaison for customers during inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and schedule all residential swimming pool fencing inspections within the required legal timeframes.
- Assign daily inspection tasks and manage the workload for field inspectors.
- Liaise with customers to coordinate appointments, confirm site access, provide updates, and assist throughout the inspection process.
- Advise builders, property owners, architects, and developers when corrective actions on pool fencing are necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with various teams, such as Building Consents and Regulatory Support, to ensure smooth operations.
Candidate Profile
This role suits someone with experience in compliance or regulatory environments, ideally with knowledge of the Building Act and Local Government Act. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and skilled in clear, empathetic communication with diverse stakeholders.
Essential qualities include initiative, excellent time management, and the capacity to build trusted relationships across a spread-out team.
Required Experience and Skills
- A minimum of two years' experience in compliance or regulatory roles.
- Previous involvement with pool fencing or building-related assessments is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Council systems such as Inspect, Naviplan, and SAP.
- Proficiency in maintaining precise records using scheduling and booking software.
- Strong capability in developing effective relationships with customers, builders, and internal teams.
- Skill in resolving scheduling conflicts and handling enquiries efficiently.
Additional Requirements and Information
- A clean, full New Zealand driver's license is mandatory due to the role's operational duties.
- Salary Band D, with an annual remuneration of $61,150 for full-time employment.
