Supply Planner

Overview

The Supply Planner position is tasked with supporting capacity planning by analyzing data, recognizing risks and constraints, and evaluating solutions to fulfill future infrastructure needs. Working closely with teams from engineering, operations, finance, and other planning departments, this role maintains and updates planning models, tracks assumptions, and coordinates the necessary inputs to develop effective supply plans. Success demands analytical acumen, meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic setting. The planner will provide insights and recommendations that enable informed decision-making and foster continuous growth in Microsoft's cloud services.

Within the Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization, this role belongs to the Datacenter Supply Strategy and Planning (DSSP) team. It is central to creating and executing datacenter supply plans supporting Microsoft's expanding global cloud infrastructure, which powers multiple services such as Azure, AI, Microsoft 365, Exchange, and Xbox.

Supply Planning spans interactions across teams starting from customer demand signals to delivering ready datacenter infrastructure. The Regional Planner contributes to creating accurate and practical supply plans aligned with business needs, assessing data to identify risks and constraints, and collaborating with engineering, operations, finance, and planning teams. This facilitates well-informed capacity planning and supports Microsoft's cloud expansion.

The infrastructure comprises over 100 datacenters and one million servers worldwide, serving more than a billion customers and 20 million businesses across 90+ countries. With a strong focus on environmental sustainability and operational optimization, Microsoft continuously evolves its datacenter design and operations to meet shifting business demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement supply plans for regional datacenters in established and emerging metropolitan areas, integrating considerations of demand, capacity, cost, lead times, and operational limits.
• Conduct analysis on supply and demand patterns, develop scenario models and "what-if" analyses, and advise on forward and reverse supply planning choices.
• Deliver presentations on supply strategy, risks, trade-offs, and performance metrics to senior leadership during strategic business reviews and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) sessions.
• Lead continual improvement efforts leveraging statistical tools, industry best practices, and emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning to enhance planning capabilities.
• Collaborate with multifunctional teams to design, implement, and refine planning workflows, reporting tools, and systems that respond to evolving business requirements.
• Deploy data analytics, dashboards, and supply chain tools to uncover gaps, track performance, conduct root cause analyses, and provide actionable insights for improving plan execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or equivalent fields.
• Relevant experience in supply planning, operations, supply chain management, indirect supply planning, technology-oriented supply chains, sourcing, or manufacturing.

Additional Information

Applicants must be capable of complying with Microsoft and client security screenings, notably passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and at two-year intervals thereafter.

The role offers a usual salary range in Ireland from €69,000 to €118,200 annually, with possible eligibility for additional benefits and compensation.
