About Scheels

Scheels aims to be recognized as the leading retailer in the United States by its customers, employees, and partners. The company operates an expanding network of four warehouses totaling 750,000 square feet, which includes a combination of Scheels-managed and third-party logistics facilities. These warehouses handle cross-docking of cartons and pallets, inventory receipt, storage, and organization for store replenishment and e-commerce fulfillment.

Role Overview

The Supply Chain Specialist ensures the smooth daily operation of assigned warehouse facilities. Acting as the key Scheels liaison, this role oversees correct purchase order setup, system functionality, and clear communication of plans to teams. The specialist fosters inventory accuracy, guides staff on system use, and collaborates with the Warehouse Operations Leader and other departments including buyers, stores, logistics, IT, vendor compliance, and accounts payable. Leading weekly meetings, providing feedback, and facilitating issue resolution are core aspects of the job.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main Scheels contact for one facility, addressing daily operational needs and promptly solving issues such as system glitches, space limitations, damages, shortages, and vendor returns.
  • Collaborate with the Warehouse Operations Leader to oversee facility performance and execution.
  • Lead weekly instructional meetings to establish expectations and offer feedback.
  • Confirm purchase orders are accurately established and communicate inbound plans proactively, then verify execution.
  • Work with IT to troubleshoot network and system challenges.
  • Monitor purchase order flow and scheduling, maintaining active communication among buyers, warehouses, and stores.
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives including cycle counts, targeted counts, and resolving receiving discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to address invoice and claim concerns.
  • Partner with Vendor Compliance to manage damage and shortage claims and assist facility teams in closing them.
  • Collaborate with buyers on inventory planning before and during its time in the warehouse.
  • Assist store teams with inbound issues such as shortages, damages, ETAs, and order tracking, ensuring fast resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to e-commerce orders, coordinating with warehouse teams to maintain fulfillment flow.
  • Monitor outbound orders for store and e-commerce fulfillment, supporting facility teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments.

Candidate Profile

  • Consistently provide excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and business partners with genuine respect and appreciation.
  • Approach tasks and communication with enthusiasm, energy, and urgency.
  • Strive to be a subject matter expert in the role and apply knowledge effectively.
  • Show respect for others and maintain the company culture.
  • Arrive early for work and meetings, demonstrating punctuality.
  • Display a team-first mentality by helping others without expecting recognition.
  • Be eager to listen, learn, accept constructive feedback, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic math, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Adhere to the company dress and grooming standards to promote a professional and welcoming workplace.
  • Take ownership of tasks and meet deadlines consistently.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in supply chain, warehouse operations, logistics, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to build trust with 3PL partners, vendors, buyers, warehouse, and store personnel.
  • Comfortable using warehouse management systems; experience with WMS, EDI, or inventory software is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace tools such as Sheets, Docs, and Gmail or similar programs.
  • Willingness to travel to facilities, including occasional overnight stays and more frequent day trips (particularly if assigned to St. Cloud).

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to perform sedentary duties involving occasional exertion up to 10 pounds, including sitting, standing, bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodations. Employees are expected to adhere to safety procedures to minimize injury risks.
