About the Role
Imperial College London is offering two part-time Strength & Conditioning Coach placement positions within the Campus Services division, specifically in the Sport Imperial/Imperial Athletes department. These placements support our high-performance athletes who compete at top BUCS leagues and international levels.
The placements provide up to 300 per academic year in travel reimbursements, partial funding for continuing professional development (CPD), and branded coaching kit. You will report to the Performance Sport Manager and collaborate with various internal teams such as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, Head of Sports Development, and other support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Shadow and assist with strength and conditioning coaching for over 10 hours weekly, engaging with performance teams and individual scholarship athletes.
- Undertake regular athlete assessments, analyze data, and make informed decisions to enhance performance programs.
- Create tailored athlete training programs based on evaluations and feedback.
- Lead training sessions under supervision once familiar with the facilities and programming.
- Participate in comprehensive in-house CPD sessions delivered by multidisciplinary practitioners and guest speakers.
- Receive mentoring through weekly meetings and ongoing observation with the performance sport manager and senior S&C coach.
- Observe allied disciplines, including physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation, and club development activities.
- Gain flexible experience in equipment management, gym health and safety, and other student-sport operational areas.
- Complete the UK Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA) Strength & Conditioning Trainer Award as part of the placement.
Candidate Profile
- Essential: Graduate in sports science, coaching, or related field.
- Passionate and committed to a sports performance career.
- Available for the full academic year (October 2026 to June 2027).
- Ready to work flexible hours, including early mornings.
- Professional, organized, polite, and eager to learn.
- Desirable: Experience with weightlifting, athletic movement coaching, session leadership, athlete testing and monitoring, or holding relevant coaching, gym instructor, or first-aid certification.
