About fal
fal is an innovative generative media platform that supports the development of next-generation AI products by providing infrastructure, tools, and model access. It enables developers and enterprises to transition from concept to scalable production seamlessly. fal integrates high-performance inference, orchestration, and observability into a unified platform, unlocking new AI-centric product categories. Positioned in a rapidly expanding market set to grow by hundreds of billions in the coming decade, fal is the foundation for ambitious teams building transformative AI solutions.
Role Overview
We seek a strategic finance partner to join our evolving finance team. This role covers a broad scope including consolidations, KPI monitoring, system implementation, and strategic projects. fal operates as a flat, agile organization with minimal hierarchy, dynamic workflows, and evolving data processes. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, brings interdisciplinary skills, demonstrates resourcefulness, and maintains a collaborative yet low-ego approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Support company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
- Maintain and enhance detailed, bottoms-up revenue models covering all go-to-market strategies and product lines; monitor actuals versus forecasts and highlight important insights.
- Assist in deploying FP&A software and other finance systems such as ERP and procurement platforms.
- Collaborate with accounting and data teams to ensure accurate, actionable monthly revenue reports broken down by product and customer.
- Develop dashboards to provide leadership with real-time insight into critical performance metrics compared to plans and forecasts.
- Investigate and correct data inconsistencies through direct analysis (e.g., SQL tables in BigQuery), driving fixes with relevant teams in the absence of a dedicated analyst.
- Leverage AI technologies to automate recurring financial workflows, enhancing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in strategic finance, private or growth equity, or investment banking, including at least 3 years in finance operations within high-growth tech companies.
- Ability to independently read, analyze, detect, and resolve data issues accurately, without necessarily writing SQL queries.
- Proficient understanding of accounting principles such as billings, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition; able to communicate these concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, low ego, strong urgency, and enthusiasm for working in a fast-evolving AI startup environment.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with AI, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale computing setups.
- Experience implementing modern FP&A tools.
- Proven history of utilizing AI tools to automate financial processes.
Company Culture
fal embraces a flat organizational structure with minimal hierarchy. Employees report directly to senior leaders and are encouraged to take ownership and move quickly. The environment suits individuals who are comfortable with ambiguity, high autonomy, and continuous process evolution.
