About the Company
ALEC Engineering and Contracting L.L.C. is a major construction group in the GCC and part of ICD. With more than two decades of experience, it delivers complex, high-profile projects across airports, hospitality, retail, and high-rise developments. In the UAE, the company has been behind many landmark projects and operates through specialist business units that provide complete construction solutions.
The head office supports the wider group with governance, finance, talent, innovation, digital systems, sustainability, and operational leadership, helping each business unit deliver consistently and effectively.
Role Overview
This position is central to the smooth movement, storage, and control of materials and tools that support production. The role is well suited to someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment within joinery and fit-out operations.
You will work closely with procurement and production teams to ensure materials such as timber, hardware, and consumables are stored securely, tracked accurately, and made available on time to keep operations running without interruption.
Key Duties
- Accept incoming materials and tools, verify them carefully, and place them into storage.
- Keep inventory records current and accurate for all items held in the store.
- Release materials to production teams according to job requirements and on schedule.
- Track stock usage and alert procurement when replenishment is needed.
- Maintain a tidy, well-organized store area that meets safety expectations.
- Record stock transfers and balances through inventory software or manual documentation.
- Carry out regular stock checks and match physical counts against recorded figures.
- Coordinate material deliveries with suppliers and transport/logistics teams.
- Safeguard valuable or sensitive items through proper storage controls.
- Apply correct disposal and waste-handling methods for damaged or expired materials.
- Follow company procedures as well as health, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Support any other related work assigned by management based on business needs.
Experience and Knowledge
Previous work in stores management, inventory control, or a closely related function is required, ideally within a fit-out environment. You should understand stock control processes and be familiar with the timber, hardware, and consumable materials commonly used in fit-out projects.
Knowledge of safe storage methods and manual handling practices is important for this role.
Technical and Personal Skills
Strong working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is expected. Familiarity with inventory management systems is also valuable. A forklift operation certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, excellent organization, sharp attention to detail, and the physical ability to handle manual tasks. The right candidate should be able to work independently, collaborate effectively with others, and maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
What We Offer
- The chance to contribute to major construction and fit-out projects across the UAE.
- A team environment that values collaboration and safety.
- Opportunities to develop within a respected, high-performing operational team.
Eligibility
This role is intended for candidates with relevant experience in stores, stock control, or inventory operations, particularly in fit-out or similar project environments.
Additional Information
All activities must align with company policies, health and safety standards, and proper waste management practices. The role may also include additional duties assigned by the manager depending on operational requirements.
