Role Overview
This role involves the comprehensive administration and management of CTERA storage platforms including portals and edge filers, both virtual and physical. The position demands expertise in global file system orchestration integrating major cloud storage services such as AWS S3, Azure Blob, and Google Cloud Storage. Key tasks include data protection through monitoring backup agents, snapshot and replication policies to ensure disaster recovery robustness. Additionally, the role requires tuning storage performance to guarantee efficient file access across distributed branch networks.
Linux Systems Engineering
The candidate will be responsible for managing Linux-based systems (CentOS/RHEL, Ubuntu) hosting the CTERA infrastructure. This includes the automation of routine operations using Bash, Python or Ansible scripts, troubleshooting connectivity with NFS/SMB mounts, managing authentication mechanisms like Kerberos, and integrating LDAP/Active Directory services. Securing Linux environments by implementing encryption standards such as AES-256 and TLS protocols is another critical responsibility.
Technical Skills and Expertise
Expertise required covers advanced storage platforms (CTERA Portal, Edge Filers, Drive), Linux system administration with kernel tuning, and comprehensive networking knowledge (L2/L3 switching, routing, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN). The position also requires in-depth experience with firewalls (stateful inspection, NAT/PAT, ACLs, WAF) and network protocols including NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3 API, and HTTPS/TLS. Practical experience with public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) focusing on storage and virtual networking is vital.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Tools
Certifications such as CTERA Certified Professional, RHCSA/RHCE, or network certifications like CCNA, CCNP, PCNSE are highly beneficial. Familiarity with security auditing tools like Varonis or Stealthbits, as well as monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Zabbix for storage health visualization, are desired. Knowledge of integration tools including Kofax or Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions that facilitate application interfacing is also advantageous.
