Role overview
An opportunity is available for a caring, compassionate, and driven staff nurse to join Ward 102, an active emergency surgery ward with 25 beds. The ward supports surgical patients both before and after operations. Applications are encouraged from people who are interested in this specialist area of care.
Newly qualified nurses and third-year students are welcome to apply and will receive support in the role.
Key duties
- Provide nursing care for patients before and after surgery.
- Handle medicines safely and appropriately.
- Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Act as an advocate for patients and their needs.
- Maintain accurate records, including care plans and risk assessments.
- Organise and prioritise your workload effectively.
- Accept responsibility and accountability for the patients assigned to you.
- Carry out patient observations.
- Perform venepuncture and cannulation.
- Apply safeguarding policies in day-to-day practice.
- Support the management of complex discharges.
- Contribute knowledge of palliative care.
- Understand the role of TVN.
