Role Overview
The Specialist, Communications position is full-time with a 35-hour workweek, located anywhere in Canada. The role involves guiding and implementing communications strategies that align with the priorities of the MS community, supporting public awareness, reputation management, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the enhancement and monthly delivery of the organization's nationwide e-newsletter through close collaboration with portfolio leads and the marketing and communications team.
- Develop and execute communications plans and tactics collaboratively with key staff and volunteers, ensuring organizational alignment and audience-focused messaging across multiple channels.
- Provide writing, editing, and messaging support to staff and volunteers for various communications initiatives, maintaining brand standards and clear communication tailored to audience needs.
Qualifications
- One to three years of experience in communications, marketing, media, or public relations.
- Exceptional communication skills with a collaborative approach to engage varied audiences and build meaningful connections within the MS community.
- Proficient in communications planning, including managing campaigns and tactical executions.
- Experience creating and managing email communications and e-newsletters aimed at large audiences, including content creation, review, approval, and performance analysis.
- Skilled in writing and editing for both internal and external audiences, encompassing speaking notes, messaging support, and community content.
- Strong command of adapting tone and messaging to suit different channels and audiences.
- Outstanding project management capabilities, able to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and coordinate projects from conception through completion.
- Knowledge of Marketing Cloud or similar email marketing platforms is an asset.
- Experience in nonprofit, fundraising, or event settings is desirable.
- Willingness to occasionally work weekends or evenings and potentially travel within Canada.
