Role Overview
We are seeking dependable and experienced Skilled Labourers for night shift roles at the Kearl Oil Sands site, operating on a 14 days on / 14 days off fly-in/fly-out schedule. Flights are arranged from Edmonton or Calgary with applicable provincial flight allowances. Ideal candidates are ready to work with a commitment to safety and excellence.
Compensation and Benefits
- Wages as per CLAC hourly standards
- Weekly pay distribution every Friday
- Company contributions to RRSP and pension plans
- Eligible benefits after 300 hours worked
- Paid training provided
- Vacation and statutory holiday pay of 10% on regular earnings
- Overtime pay at one and a half times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform tasks adhering to OCL and industry standards, procedures, and best practices
- Support skilled tradespeople as necessary
- Safely operate basic hand and power tools
- Carry out spotting and flagging responsibilities when assigned
- Review and comprehend site-specific instructions before shifts
- Contribute to site cleaning and preparation activities
- Maintain organized and tidy workspaces on the job site
- Participate actively in daily toolbox meetings
- Undertake physically demanding work under varied weather conditions
- Execute additional duties as requested
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior experience as a Skilled Labourer in industrial construction settings
- Competency in safely using basic hand and power tools
- Strong awareness of construction site safety protocols and hazards
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing strenuous outdoor labor
- Committed to fostering a safe, cooperative team environment with a positive work ethic
- Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Possession of valid driver’s license with clean abstract and reliable transportation
- Required safety certifications including WHMIS 2015, CSTS 2020 (or equivalent); H2S Alive is considered a plus
- Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- A willingness to undergo a criminal background check
- Legal authorization to work in Canada is mandatory
